Ferrite phase transformation in dual-phase steel under shock loading

چکیده
Microstructural changes and ferrite phase transformation under shock loading, between 8.5 GPa 17.5 GPa, in a hot-rolled Lean Duplex Stainless Steel (commercially known as LDX 2101) were investigated as-received pre-deformed conditions. The latter condition was considered to distinguish classical deformation twins at high strain rates from those associated the reversible transformation. Plate impact experiments used introduce compressive loading peak stresses below above stress threshold of transformation, 13 GPa. Effects also examined by compressing shocked samples quasi-statically comparing their response with tested condition. microstructural examinations revealed that 2101 experienced ~17 fingerprints for this {112}<111> primary {332}<113> secondary twins. In addition, yield sample pre-shocked showed considerable increase (⁓150 MPa) compared flow

The Effects of Inhomogeneous Mechanical Properties of the Ferrite Phase on Dual Phase Steel’s Behavior
The microstructure of dual phase steels can be considered as a matrix of ferrite phase reinforced by martensite particles. Recent measurements show that the mechanical properties of the ferrite phase are changed with the distance from the martensite grains. In this paper, a new method has been proposed to consider this phenomenon in finite element modeling of dual phase steels microstructure. I...
متن کاملPhase Changes in Ni-ti under Laser Shock Loading
Near-equiatomic Ni-Ti, known for its shape memory behavior, can decompose to martensitic phases and/or second phase compounds. This phase competition is investigated in NixTi100-x (49<x<55) in as-quenched (AQ) and shock-loaded states. Dynamic loading was done with direct drive laser pulses of nanosecond duration; shocked samples were recovered for analysis. Unexpectedly, the lowest-Ni alloy (x ...
متن کاملNovel phase transformation in ZnO nanowires under tensile loading.
We predict a previously unknown phase transformation from wurtzite to a graphitelike (P6(3)/mmc) hexagonal structure in [0110]-oriented ZnO nanowires under uniaxial tensile loading. Molecular dynamics simulations and first principles calculations show that this structure corresponds to a distinct minimum on the enthalpy surfaces of ZnO for such loading conditions. This transformation is reversi...
متن کاملA Phase Transformation Model for the Austenitisation of Martensite in Dual-Phase Steel
This work presents a unique approach for the modelling of the austenitisation of martensite in dual-phase steels within the phase-field method. Driving forces for nucleation and growth are derived from thermodynamic databases. Routines for nucleation are based on a discretisation of the classical nucleation theory. Validation is given via dilatometric experiments.
متن کاملThe Effect of Ferrite Grain Size on the Fatigue Behavior of Ferrite-martensite Dual-phase Steels
The effect of ferrite grain size on the fatigue and tensile properties of dual phase steels with a 0.25 volume fraction of martensite (Vm) under different heat treatments was investigated. The heat treatments were homogenized at 1200 oC along with several subsequent normalizations at 910 oC, resulting in different microstructures and mechanical properties. After heat treatment, the obtained ste...
